Givenchy Rouge Interdit Lipstick in Candide Tangerine: A modern twist on retro Orange
Um, did I really just spend 20 minutes dancing around my living room to Biggie’s Juicy?
Yes, I did (I suspect you aren’t surprised).

And why did I do it?
Givenchy! Candide Tangerine, their newest lipstick color, makes me really wish I could rap. If I could, I’d spit a few bars about how downright juicy it is.
You know very well who you are…

Imagine pieces of peeled tangerine dipped in concentrated Hawaiian Punch. THAT’s how intensely pigmented Candide Tangerine is.
I’m wearing two layers for opaque coverage in these pics; a single layer produces much more of a stained look.
Reddish orange mad men lips have been popping up like Technicolor prairie dogs lately, but for this Givenchy went a different route. instead of making it an old-school matte a la MAC Neon Orange, which I’m wearing in these pics here (from the stylishly yours Collection), Givenchy gave it a glossy, shiny finish. I like it both ways, but I think the shine makes Candide Tangerine look a little much more modern.
If you’re new to Givenchy’s Rouge Interdit Lipstick line, you’re in for a treat (albeit an expensive one…like truffles). These moisturizing lippies feel smooth and light on my lips and have a really good glide to them. They’re unflavored, but they do have a light rosy scent that rapidly fades. I think it’s pleasant.
Givenchy calls the Rouge Interdit lipsticks long-wearing, but I dunno… I get between 3-4 hours out of Candide Tangerine, which isn’t awfully good or bad. much more like medium-wear, and I do touch-ups with it at least a few times throughout the day.
Candide Tangerine is rather expensive, but it’s also packed with pretty pigment. It’s fantastic texture and sleek, sophisticated packaging also make it feel worthy of the price — a fun, fresh take on one of spring’s trendiest colors.

A stellar day at stellar Spa
Last weekend’s medspa day with my high school buddies at stellar medspa in Corte Madera (up in the North Bay Area) was a really good treat. I’d driven by the medspa numerous times (it’s close to the place I go to get my hair did) before, but I’d never walked in. It’s a very cute, homey little spot providing massages, facials and body treatments.
They have men’s and women’s lounges and a soothing co-ed “quiet area” with couches, magazines and snacks (dried fruit, nuts, water and tea), so you can unwind before and after your treatment. It’s not one of those spas with, like, the very fancy showers, or a sauna or pool, but it’s clean, stylish and great if you just want to relax. I also thought the staff were really nice.
I had a deep tissue massage, and Tina, the very cool masseuse who dealt with me, tenderized my upper back and shoulders as if they were pieces of meat, efficiently chiseling out all of my tension (and I imply this in the best possible way). I left feeling like a new girl, mellow and happy.
If you’re ever in the area and searching for a place to unwind, stellar medspa is just a hop, skip and a jump (about a 20-minute drive) from the golden gate bridge.
